Whataburger Field, home to the Corpus Christi Hooks (double-A Astros), is named for the burger chain started in 1950 by Corpus Christi local Harmon Dobson. According to the Whataburger website, Dobson wanted to serve a burger so good that whenever someone tried one they'd sit back and say, "What a burger!"
With each Win at Whataburger Field, a large orange flag with the letter "W" is raised high above center field. On Wednesdays, fans can help raise the "W" by registering here at least one week before the game, which means I should have put this post up last week. sorry.
Who gets to raise the flag (the winner) will be selected in a random drawing one week prior to each of the Wednesday home games.
Wednesday Winners Receive:
Four Front-Row Tickets Behind Home Plate to a Wednesday Hooks game, Parking Pass, Dinner for Four from Whataburger (Delivered to Your Seats), One Hooks Championship Replica Ring, and if the Hooks win, winners will be included in a “Bring Home the W” flag-raising ceremony
All 2007 entrants, including Wednesday winners, are eligible for a Grand Prize.
Grand Prize Winner Receives:
Four Front-Row Tickets Behind Home Plate to the final home game on September 3rd, Parking Pass, Whataburger for a Year
Today the Hooks play the Arkansas Travelers (double-A Angels) at 7:05pm. Someone has to do something about last night's tie. And someone else needs to explain to me how the game ended in a tie.
