Thinking about my Uncle Anthony (my dad's uncle), who was a longtime usher at Shea, I realized that there are many great Ballpark Insiders, not just visitors like me, but people who are there all the time to see, hear, and taste everything. Here are the thoughts of someone who has been a Security Officer for 4 years...
Q: What's your favorite food INSIDE Shea?
A: Hot dogs
Q: Do you get free food or vouchers or anything?
A: No
Q: And your favorite food NEAR Shea?
A: Mama's of Corona (**that's Leo's Latticini, 6-02 104th St., 718-898-6069. Closed Mondays; Open until 5pm)
Q: Anything else you can tell me about Food+Shea?
A: Shea has all the usual stadium foods like chicken fingers, burgers, fries and dogs. There's actually have Mama's in Shea, but the prices are, uh, inflated. In addition to Mama's there's a pizza stand called Famiglia's, and about two years ago they introduced a sushi stand. I've never tasted either, but everyone seems to love the pizza.
Q: Thanks. Just one more thing (I, too, have insider info); aren't you a Yankees fan?
A: Hell yeah!
and that's how we know we can trust him
