Gateway Grizzlies reinvent the Slider

Independent Frontier League’s Gateway Grizzlies (Sauget, IL) expand their creative food concessions list annually. It started in 2004 with “Baseball’s Best Hotdog,” a 1/5 pound, 8-inch, all black angus dog topped with bacon, sautéed onions, sauerkraut and cheddar cheese sauce. The following year they added the “Swiss Brat,” bratwurst, swiss cheese and sauerkraut. Then came “Baseball’s Best Burger,” a seemingly normal bacon-cheddar burger…on a Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut bun. See above photo. This burger has received much attention, as many of you likely know. So what’s new for 2007? “Baseball’s Best Slider,” a breaded and fried White Castle cheeseburger. Breaded and fried. $4 for two. This 600-ish-calorie snack will debut on May 23, when the Grizzlies take on the Southern Illinois Miners in their season opener.

A deep fried White Castle burger. That sounds amazing but at the same time dangerous. They should have an eating competition to see if anyone can finish a "crave case". Better have the defibrillators ready!
