This Week with the Tulsa Drillers

Tulsa Drillers (double-A Rockies), you’re killing me, and yourselves with Intern-Eat-A-Palooza. Three Drillers interns – each representing a different seating section - will scarf down a nightly menu item. The intern who gets the food down the fastest wins that food for their section. Meaning: Free food for fans. Tonight’s item is Garbage Can Fries, what a fitting name. Tomorrow it’s tacos. And so forth. And if your section’s intern doesn’t win, you still get $1 off the Eat-A-Palooza menu item of the night. This promo continues until July 18th or until one of the interns sues the Rockies to pay for their gastric bypass surgery. Maybe that’s the wrong way to phrase it. I’m not opposing overeating (at this moment). I’m opposing speedeating. Upcoming Drillers Food Promos that don’t upset me: July 12th: Margaritaville Night: 2-for-1 Cheeseburgers and 2-for-1 Margarita Wine Coolers for those in costume (think Key West), or not. Steels drum music and free leis for everyone. July 13th: Sara Lee Free Bread: that's right, Free loaf of Sara Lee Whole Wheat Bread as all fans exit the ballpark, which means you have to stay for the whole game to get your whole wheat. In addition to the free loaf of bread, all fans will receive discount coupons on Sara Lee bread for the next time they visit their local grocer. July 14th Hamburger Helper Night: Same deal, Free Sample of Hamburger Helper when you exit the ballpark. Also, the glove guy will be at the game. The Drillers play the Arkansas Travelers (double-A Angels) at 7:05 each of the above mentioned nights.
