About Scoreboard Gourmet

Scoreboard Gourmet (SG) is a blog about food offered in and around baseball parks, basketball courts, football fields, and other sports venues. What’s there, Why, How does it Taste, etc. SG would like to be a Website but I (author Sara Pepitone) am unbelievably un-Web-savvy and can only ask boyfriend Mike for so much help - to see what happens when I try to make a Website, go here: www.eatwithpills.com. I am not a professional chef or culinary historian or really culinary anything but I have worked in many restaurant kitchens and graduated from culinary night school. More importantly, I like food. I also like to tell people about food I eat and food I think they should eat; sometimes this advice is solicited. My favorite snack is barely-salted oil-popped popcorn; I can eat it at any time of any day. I also have a french fry problem. I am a baseball fan. And, more specifically, a Yankees fan. But that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy food in other parks. As you will and can see, I am completely unbiased when it comes to food. And now for further disclosure, I am, as Mike would say, a fake Pepitone. More on that later. He, by the way, is a fake Mike Jacobs. My favorite player is Jorge Posada; I can count on him any game, any day (and he has the hardest job of anyone). I also have a Mussina thing. I am also a fan of pretty much every other sport but not the fighting kinds, some of which hardly seem to be sports. I am not a fan of people wearing baseball (or other) caps indoors, especially in restaurants, and I cringe (to say the least) when I see anyone over the age of 11 wearing a jersey with someone else’s name on the back (unless that someone is retired). Criminy; support the team; do you really want the rest of us to know that your idol is half your age? Otherwise, I hardly have any opinions at all.

What?! I, an adult, can't wear a Jeter jersey to the Bronx?! I can't wear a Prucha jersey when I go to the Garden? My only opinion on this is don't wear an A-Rod jersey, cause he won't be with the team in a year and no one cares that he won't. But saying you shouldn't wear a shirt with an active player's name on it is taking away part of the self-identifying joy of the game.

Like you, Pillgirl, Posada is my favorite Yankee, but for two totally different reasons:

1) He is not Alex Rodriguez.

2) Every time he steps up to the plate, he provides me an opportunity to garner laughs by belting out "DO YOU LIKE JORGE POSADA? / And getting caught in the rain...."

Great new site, PG... it's amazing what a Yankees fan can do when she really sets her mind to it.

You don't even have to talk about baseball and the Boston fans are still jealous.
